Privacy notice

Short version: we keep only what we need to send you the news you asked for, we never sell or share it, and this site uses no tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

When you register interest

We store your e-mail address, the commander name you chose (optional), the lists you picked, whether you want to be considered for playtests, the consent wording you agreed to and when, and when you confirmed or unsubscribed.

We use this only to send you the mails you asked for. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the link in every mail or by writing to us.

  • Double opt-in. Nothing is sent until you confirm your address with the link in our first mail. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 14 days.
  • Leaving. Every mail has an unsubscribe link. After you unsubscribe we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so we never mail it again; ask us and we will erase it completely.
  • Sending. Mails are delivered through our e-mail provider, which processes your address on our behalf only for delivery.
  • Never sold, rented or shared with anyone for their own use.

Visitor statistics

We count visits on our own server, without cookies and without any third-party service. For each page view we store the page, the time, the website that linked to it (just its name), whether the device is a phone, tablet or computer, and an anonymous visitor number.

That number is made by scrambling your IP address and browser name together with a random key that changes every day and is then deleted. It lets us count how many different people visited on a day, but cannot be turned back into your address or linked from one day to the next. We do not store IP addresses. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, you are not counted at all. Page-view records are deleted after about a year.

Security logs

To protect the site, attempts to log in to its administration are recorded with the IP address, the browser and the name that was entered (never the password), and kept for 90 days. Ordinary visitors are not affected by this.

Cookies

Public pages set one technical cookie only when you submit a form, to protect it against forgery. The admin area uses a login cookie for staff. There are no advertising, analytics or social-media cookies.

Embedded videos

Some pages may embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo, such as a trailer. Those players are loaded from the video service when you open the page, and that service's own privacy terms apply.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, or withdraw consent at any time: write to hello@thestarsweclaim.com. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data-protection authority.
